Vigyan Dhara A Comprehensive Scheme: An internships for Class 11 and 12, fellowships for UG, PG PhD and Post Doctoral Research
On Saturday, The Union cabinet approved internships for Class 11 and 12 science and technology students under the ‘Vigyan Dhara’ scheme of department of science and technology and even through this scheme fellowships will be given for UG PG PhD and Post Doctoral Research.
The proposed outlay for the implementation of the unified scheme is Rs 10,579 crore during the 15th finance Commission period from 2021-22 to 2025-26,” information and broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
Three Key Components of the Scheme:
1. Science and Technology (S&T), Institutional and Human Capacity Building
2. Research and Development
3. Innovation, Technology Development and Development
Benefits of the Scheme:
1. It will promote Science and Technology capacity building as well as research, innovation and technology development towards strengthening the science, technology and innovation ecosystem in the country.
2. It will help to boost the S & T infrastructure of the country by fostering well-equipped R&D labs in the Academic Institutions.
3. Enhancing the participation of women in the field of science and technology.
4. Building critical human research pool.
5. Promote basic research as well as translational research.
Besides this, there are five main pillars of this Scheme:
1. Internships for class 11th and 12th + fellowships for UG PG PhD and Post Doctoral Research.
2. International collaboration in cutting edge research
3. Joint research projects and joint fellowships.
4. Focus on areas that affect society like climate change.
